| EVENT UPDATE 4/27/22
Since April Showers are forecasted for Saturday, we're asking that any volunteers for the garden workday consider contributing a plant in honor of a special mom in your life instead.
Donations can be made during our upcoming First Friday Mother's Day Open House on Friday, May 6, from 5-7 PM @ the Foothills Arts Center.
A small team of volunteers will plant donated plants over the weekend. Thanks!
Our first annual Volunteer Gardening Day is scheduled for Saturday, April 30, from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
We would love to have your help revitalizing a shade garden and addressing landscape maintenance in the lower corner of our lawn. This event gives garden enthusiasts an opportunity to pitch in for a good cause.

If you want to show your support but don’t feel like digging in the dirt, please feel free to drop off spring bulbs, perennials, or evergreen plants to be planted by our volunteers. Please donate plants on Friday, April 29 from 9:00 am - 5:00 pm or no later than 9:00 am on Saturday, April 30, to allow us plenty of time for planting.
The current plot contains a Dogwood tree, two established Maple trees, and a Holly shrub. We’re hoping to add to the mix with a collection of small- and mid-sized plants. Although parts of the garden will receive full sun, our focus is on shade loving plants or plants that prefer partial shade. Regardless, any plant donations will be put to good use!
The colors we’d like to pull into the garden include burgundies, yellow greens/blue greens, and the occasional light lavender.
Our full-shade or partial-shade plant wishlist includes (but is certainly not limited to):
Hydrangea
Jack-in-the-pulpit
Japanese camellia
Japanese maple
Juniper
Lenten rose
Mop cypress
Ornamental grasses
Plantain lilies
Russian sage
Bleeding heart
Blue spruce
Bluebells
Columbine
Coral bells
Eastern redbud
Ferns
Fringe Flower
Hinoki cypress
Hosta
If you don’t have a green thumb but are interested in helping in other ways, we also have a teak bench destined for the shade garden that needs to be sanded and refinished with a teak oil or other similar waterproofing oil. Furthermore, if weed whacking brings you joy, we have plenty of trim work to do, too!
We can’t wait to see you there!
