The Foothills Arts Center is delighted to welcome our new Assistant Director, Sydney Sieviec.

Sydney is a native of Hillsville, Virginia. She graduated summa cum laude from Radford University in 2013 with a Bachelor’s of Science in Art, and was honored as the outstanding graduate of her class. She taught visual arts education in Virginia and North Carolina schools for eight years, and was named the teacher of the year for her school last year. Her involvement in the Foothills Arts Center began five years ago when she became a member of the Board of Directors, where she served as Vice President and then as President.

It is a great privilege to serve as the new Assistant Director for the Foothills Arts Center. I can’t help but to love beautiful old buildings, and the facility richly complements the timeless instructional courses already offered on site.

The center presents an opportunity to simultaneously preserve the local history and cultivate a regional arts destination, and the atmosphere on campus is one of innovation, creativity, and optimism.

I am especially eager to advance the development of a vibrant after school and summer art program for the youth in our community, our future artists.
— Sydney Sieviec

Sydney lives in Elkin, North Carolina with her husband, daughter, and pets. Her creative pursuits include painting, pastel, and mixed media collage. She travels often, exploring trails, vineyards, gardens, museums, and historic venues. She also enjoys documenting her experiences through photography.
