Life starts all over again when it gets crisp in the fall. — F. Scott Fitzgerald in The Great Gatsby.
There's just something about October. Maybe it's the way golden-hued days give way to star-filled nights, or the chill in the air and crunch of crisp leaves underfoot. Perhaps it's the scent of baking spices or the dappled sunlight that reminds us that there is a magic to this season that gives us the most abundant beauty while demanding the least from us in return.
Here at the Foothills Arts Center, we're celebrating autumn with a renewed energy for creative endeavors, and we hope you'll get involved, too.
Our October offerings include a Sunset Movie Series on the lawn. Join us every Friday evening for dinner and drinks before the movie, and stay for the delightful experience of cinema under the night sky. Artists will be working in their studios on campus and our craft gallery will be open, featuring the Tapestry Weavers South New Works exhibit, so wander in!
As you begin to think about making the most of cozy indoor living in the winter, fill your October days with a course in beginning tapestry weaving or learn how to upcycle fabric into a gorgeous rug or a new garment. Discover how to utilize an approachable inkle loom or appreciate the meditative art of Japanese mending. Register for open painting studios and complete a canvas with as much or as little guidance as you require.
In preparation for the holiday season, browse our craft gallery for gifts, or sign up for a pop-up workshop designed to spark your creativity and benefit the development of the Foothills Arts Center in our mission to foster creative community.
We can't wait to welcome you!
