| plein air painters | piccione vineyards

Our second Plein Air Painters excursion was to the spectacular Piccione Vineyards in Ronda, North Carolina. The hundred-acre property features rolling vineyard rows with established vines and newly planted varietals protected by orderly grow tubes. The Blue Ridge Mountains fade on the horizon, and small farms line the perimeter of the property. Creeks, a pond, several meandering dirt roads, and a barn with a red roof provided an inspiring vista and abundant creative opportunities.

Five artists attended, including both beginning and experienced plein air painters. Although the morning was hazy and humid, we had a wonderful time trying to capture the beauty of our surroundings and discussing our work with the other artists and guests at the vineyard.
