The picturesque Elkin Creek Vineyard and Winery recently played host to our first 2023 Plein Air Painters excursion, leaving participants enamored by the serene beauty of the location. Tucked away at the confluence of Big Elkin Creek and Mitchell River, the secluded vineyard offered a tranquil view of the historic Elkin Creek Mill.
Despite an initially overcast and misty morning, a group of dedicated plein air artists gathered early in the morning to immerse themselves in the creative process. Together, they produced four stunning paintings, capturing the essence of the vineyard's natural charm.
The event welcomed both seasoned plein air painters and enthusiastic beginners, fostering a supportive and inclusive environment for all. As we gear up for the second annual Foothills Plein Air Festival in October, these monthly excursions serve as perfect opportunities for artists to hone their skills and explore their creativity.
Whether you are a seasoned painter or just beginning to dip your brush into plein air artistry, our excursions offer a chance to connect with nature, fellow artists, and your creative self. Don't miss this chance to be part of a vibrant artistic community and explore the beauty of our natural surroundings.
We look forward to welcoming new members to our plein air painters' community in August as we venture to Stone Mountain State Park on Sunday, August 27, from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM. This park promises breathtaking landscapes and a plethora of inspiration for your artistic endeavors. Mark your calendars, pack your art supplies, and join us for a memorable morning of painting amidst the beauty of North Carolina's landscapes.
