| plein air painters | new river in sparta
Our third Plein Air Painters excursion was to a private property owned by one of our generous board members, located on the New River in Sparta. The secluded home — nestled in the Allegheny Mountains — featured a tranquil view of the New River, where the water was high due to recent rain.
Although the morning began with early thunderstorms, a handful of dedicated plein air artists met up at 8:00 a.m. and enjoyed a fresh cup of coffee under the covered deck while watching the fog lift off of the river. The rain faded to a drizzle and then tapered off entirely just in time for artists to begin their paintings, drawing, and prints.
Six artists attended, including both beginning and experienced plein air painters.
